Happy Five Years: AutoSite Legacy returns! And dcb’s 2024 goals..

Merry Christmas! Happy holidays! Warm wishes however you might be celebrating. I bring good tidings for any of you who use AutoSite and find yourself jumping across Windows or Mac or Linux often. If you stick around to the end, I have some thoughts on the year and my current plans as well. Continue reading

Update Rollup for dcb services

I’m going to keep this post a bit short- I have drafts (and a lab report,,,) in the works, and the nature of this post is partly catch up. I’m gonna cover sites, sites again, and site generator generatoring. So here’s a few updates from my neck of the woods. Continue reading

Back to Basics: 2021 in Review

I couldn’t write a traditional year recap for this year because it just hasn’t been a traditional year for Somnolescent. I can’t lay out four seasons of what we all did together–too much has changed, my mind’s elsewhere, I’m ready to do something different and simpler, right now and next year.

Here’s what we’re doing instead: I’ve gone back through the old recaps, picked one thing per person I liked, and I’ll ramble about it some. Art highlights follow, as always, then I’ll talk about what exactly has changed and what the gameplan for Somnolescent in 2022 is. Less to write, less for you to read.

Oh, and Caby drew my favorite thing in the world for the occasion. Let’s review! Continue reading

Summer 2021 — Growing Frosty

Summer has come and gone once again, and with Somnol having slowed but never stopped, we’ve grown quite nicely into the seasonal recaps. Really, the rush towards the back end of this year has just been clearing off plates and getting ready to move onto another phase of our lives. Sometimes it takes a while, but there’s always tomorrow… Continue reading

8/31 – Sleeping Through the Dog Days

Well, admittedly, it’s been a slower month than expected here at Somnolescent. Turns out, after a month-long sprint (two, in my case…), mostly, you wanna relax. Relax we did, and so, by the time we got back in the productive spirit, it was the last week or two of the month. As such, the pickings are a little paltry this time (and admittedly no Pennyverse Month–we’re aiming for September). Still, can’t finish the month without a recap, so here we go… Continue reading

A Year Under the Bulb: 2019 in Review

And so, 1998+1 has come and gone. The first official year of Somnolescent. The first year out on our own, our own hosting, in our own group. People came, people left, projects were started, and love blossomed.

2019 was a year of change, of growth, and of optimistic unease. It was the start of us as Somnolians realizing what we had and what we didn’t need. It was the year of itemizing fears and coming to terms with realities. (You might say it sounds dramatic and pretentious, but so is life.)

Don’t worry, though. We got a lot done that people outside the group can enjoy too. If you missed anything, it’s more than likely here. Continue reading

Reflections (and Reveries)

It’s your local four-portraited lad, dcb. I’ve been here for a full year now, and it’s time to reflect a bit. Continue reading

10/31 – Chunky Soup

If you haven’t yet noticed, you’ve had 30 entire days to do so: it’s spooky month. This does not in any way call for a recap, but here we are nonetheless. Nowhere near as long as the last one, promise. Come! There’s Eevees! Continue reading

9/9 – Blueberry Milk

Two new sites, bios and refs, stories, a little raccoon out on a giant adventure, and I’ve started playing Cookie Clicker again. This one’s gonna be so massive, I’ve had to split it into sections, so get cozy in the nearest armchair. It’s time for a recap. Continue reading

AutoSite XL 0.9 release, and a retrospective

Tonight I released the first “stable” version of AutoSite XL, 0.9. I started this project just before school started about two weeks ago. Something I had always wanted to do since I started working on AutoSite alllll the way back in … Continue reading
